Review:
After releasing three albums in two years, Witchery took a two year hiatus before releasing their fourth album, "Symphony for the Devil". Featuring ex-members of Satanic Slaughter, current members of The Haunted and Nifelheim, as well as Mercyful Fate bass god Sharlee D'Angelo, this potent five-piece pack a punch. Their ability to coalesce most forms of metal have attracted fans from all walks of life. The musical backdrop is definitely rooted in traditional metal, with an almost power metal feel to it. However, the dark imagery and undertones in the music present a more death metal vibe. Lastly, Toxine's vocals are definitely in the scathing black metal realm. The production on this gem is perfect. Every instrument can be heard and is mixed evenly, including the bass which is usually next to non-existent on most metal recordings.

Witchery, who's reputation already precedes them, have released an album that totally crushes everything they've done prior. That's one hell of a feat for a band of such a high caliber. Rather than try some expiremental new sound that may very well flop, they've chosen to bring together all of the most well-known and appreciated styles of metal from the past decade and combine them seemelessly to make a record that anyone who waves the banner of metal can enjoy.
