| The lone member from Harvest who doesn't now play in The Hope Conspiracy, Dave Walker, formed Season of Fire after Harvest's untimely demise. And unlike THC who took a new direction, Mr. Walker and company bring more of the intense, riff-driven metalcore that his previous band was famous for. The thing that catches my attention on "Torture Inhibition" is that most of the songs (there are only 5 on the CDep) seem as though they truly were written riff by riff. Rather than having a song that flows perfectly from piece to piece, each part of the song has it's own identity. And of course, it's crushing. There are some nice breakdown parts toup the hardcore dance pits for all the dancefloor ninjas. The most notable of such comes in the middle of "Famine", where it's just anE cadence. Beautiful. I haven't heard simplicity like that in a long time, and it's really underrated. The CDep is a teaser of what's to come. And it would appear that the future looks bright for Season of Fire. They've definitely taken things in the right direction. |
