| This three-piece hail from the land of Israel, although the members wer born in Russia. Sludge and doom are the two first words that come to mind during the listening of "Let the Soul Out and Cut the Vein". At parts, the album can be broken down into sounding like odd versions of songs by Isis, Neurosis, Godflesh, Will Haven, Cathedral and maybe even Bloodlet, at moments. Very slow, very downtuned and a bit off-timed. The unvaried shrill shouts of frontman Dave K could use a bit more range, but they definitely sound at home on this disc, aiding in that Deep South dirge feel. Unfortunately, the album passes by as one fleeting moment, rather than allowing each track to have it's own identity. If there weren't three second pauses between songs, I wouldn't know where one ended and the next began. Fans of the sludge and doom, especially Cathedral, will go apeshit this. Unfortunately, "Let the Soul Out and Cut the Vein" puts me to sleep. |
