| WAR Music is one of the best European labels, boasting in it's discography early releases from In Flames, Arch Enemy and Cryptopsy, while it's current roster claims such great acts as Naglfar and Darkane. In Thy Dreams, whom share three members with Century Media recording artists Carnal Forge, also call WAR Music home. The band's third full-length "Highest Beauty" is just as much Gothenburg as their previous efforts. Similar to Carnal Forge, however tilting more towards the melodic than the mean, the songs are still short and to the point, without being so upbeat that they lose touch of the heaviness that metal is known for. Most of the brutality comes from the barbaric, yet effective drumming, which keeps a fast pace without being overly flashy, throughout. The vocas alternate between the usual melodic metal growls and a more guttural death metal style that is common of the Florida death metal scene. With so many bands doing this style, it's easy for a band to fall through the cracks. Having a name similar to In Flames, arguably the largest band in this genre, I could see In Thy Dreams being one of these bands that doesn't get their due recognition although they're more than deserving. |
