Review:
Detroit's End It have released their first CD. It's more of a collection of demos than a cohesive album, although you wouldn't know that from listening because everything sounds pretty heavy and tight. Thankfully, frontman Mike offers a little insight as to how all the tracks came to be inside the booklet. Musically, the band combines all types of influences. Obviously, the hardcore element is most prevalent, but you can hear old school thrash and even some rock n roll undertones. The basic guitar work, including picking patterns, especially the gallop, are used often and provide a sound that makes you have to head bang. The vocals are choked screams. Included on the disc are two covers. One by the great thrash band Testament and another by Entombed, one of the first Swedish death metal bands. Both covers are done well, as the band tweaks each song enough to make it sound like their own, but not enough to totally destroy the originals.

"Meet Your Maker" can be used to get you up to speed on End It material, but I'm still waiting for them to put an album out of all new songs. Until then, pick up this riff-oriented, thrash-inspired disc.
