"In Torment In Hell" is no exception. Starting off with a doctored, and quite eerie soundclip, the album plods through eight tracks of heavy groove-laden death metal. Mr. Benton's low-end growls lay nicely on top of a punishing rhythm section featuring tons of double bass and breakdown drumming. The guitar is kept basic, yet effective. Often single note tremolo sections subside into brutal barre chord progressions. The production is top notch, which is key. The production is what really harmed Deicide's early releases, having sounded as though they were recorded in a closet with a 4-track.

Deicide are sticking with a style of death metal that is tried and true, rather than venturing into new territory. However, when a band has managed to stay alive and kicking for so long, that's a testament in and of itself. Rather than try to play some obscure style, Deicde keep alive the tradition of brutal death metal that they helped create and that their homestate Florida has become famous for.
