How did the concept to write comical songs about serial killers come about? Please give some insight. The old time melodies and rhymes come from my childhood. Children's music that I used to listen to and books I used to read and later on it just seemed to fit with the serial killer theme. The acts these people did were crazy and combining it with children's music seems to make it even crazier. Macabre recently played a show in Philadelphia as part of a Relapse showcase. How was the show as far as crowd reaction? Do you plan on coming back here again? We had a great time there, it was a great show. That night we even played Mary Bell. I'm sure we'll be back there this year sometime. Why does Macabre tour more in Europe than in the US/Canada? That's going to change, we're going to try and start touring the US twice a year. We do have a really good following in Europe. We have been up to Canada quite a bit. We like touring. What were the benefits of having so much time between the full lengths "Sinister Slaughter" and "Dahmer"? There were no benefits, we had record company problems and had to drop our label before we put out another release. You can expect less time in between releases in the future. What are the band's plans for the future? When can we expect a new album? And give us some details about it? Will it be another storyline album like "Dahmer" or discuss a mix of serial killers like "Sinister Slaughter"? Who will be the subject(s) of choice this time around?
Our next album will be "Murder Metal", it will be Sinister Slaughter part 2 and will cover different killers through a wide variety of musical styles. We will be touring for a while first. We will have "Gloom" ready with live bonus tracks from our first recordings from 1986 by the end of June so check the www.murdermetal.com website for details. We will also remix "Grim Reality" and release it with both the original version and the new version in the near future. We might put out a live album and a seven inch too soon. Then comes "Murder Metal". In another interview, I read that you had considered doing a song about the Columbine shootings, but Nefarious thought it would be "too touchy". Don't you think that singing about anyone that kills people could be considered "too touchy" and if so, what makes a song about Columbine more far fetched than your other songs? I will do a song about Columbine in the future, it's history, it's something that happened and I'm going to write about it. Who's your favorite serial killer? And why? Albert Fish, because he was the most bizarre murderer that I know of. An old man who ate little kids. Fifteen years without one member change. What is the secret? We're all deadicated to Macabre, we plan to do this as long as we possibly can.
How the hell did Dennis the Menace get so damn fast on the drums? How was he trained? How does he practice? I've placed him second on my all-time fastest drummers list. The only person I think is faster would be Flo from Cryptopsy. It's all the sugar he eats, no seriously he's been playing drums for a very long time and he's getting better all the time. He's self taught. Often times people blame a murder they committed on the music they listen to or stupid shit like that. Being a band that crosses the line of good taste in most people's eyes (not mine), how do you feel about accusations like that? How would you react if someone said they committed murders on account of hearing Macabre "glorify" serial killers? There's no way that music is going to make someone kill. They would do it anyway. It's easy to put the blame on music. I look at our music as a warning, people should know about this and we are letting them know that they should watch out, there's a lot of sick people out there. It's lame, but I ask this of all my interview victims...Top 5 All-Time Favorite Albums? How about five of my all time faroite bands/musicians. Black Sabbath King Crimson John McLaughlin John Zorn Beatles Any last words? Final thoughts? Things to promote? Etc. Thanks to all the fans that have stuck with us and supported us for so many years. We'll keep playing murder metal for you. We also have another website at www.mindmelt.com that you might want to check out. See you on tour.
